Message of the dean

Our commitment is to prepare a new strategy to approach Somali social problems including conflict resolution and peace building. We would like to change Somalia through education delivered on modern technology by using ITC equipment and skills and benefiting online and distance learning methods in partnership with AVU/UNDP, UNESCO-PEER and other international development partners.

 

   

Mission

Our mission is to achieve national and international excellence in education, leadership, teaching and learning.

Aim of the college

  • To prepare highly-qualified teachers to teach in various specializations at both primary and secondary levels in keeping with the highest pedagogical standards in order to met the increasing demand for educators and teachers across the country.
  • To update teaching methods and under take educational and psychological research in order to enhance the practice of teaching and

 

Credit Hours

The unit of work (credit) is semester hour, and each academic year shall be made up of 16-week semester. Graduation requires the completion of a minimum of 132 credit hours.

Academic Standard

  Students at the faculty are expected to maintain high academic standard in all aspects of the curriculum and life of the college. A student is expected to maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 Grade point average. In addition, 2.25 Grade average in major area of study, 2.0 Grade point average are minor area of study and 2.0 Grade point average in general education courses work.

Organization

The academic and administrative structure of the faculty of education is designed to guarantee flexibility and responsiveness to teach student's educational needs.

The Dean, who is the chief executive of the faculty, is responsible, for all plans, programs, and day-to-day operations of the college. Assisting him his duties are the Vice-Dean, Department heads and the academic committee.

Faculty is composed of three divisions:-

  1. Division of pre-service secondary teacher education degree.
  2. Division of Pre-service secondary teacher education Diploma.
  3. Division of In-service primary teacher education diploma.

programs and conducts research related to primary, secondary and higher education.
