The university manages a research center; an offshoot that was aimed to conduct researches in Puntland state and elsewhere in Somalia . It was created to provide training and advice for both public and private institutions. This could play as a link between the university's educational faculties and public and private institution consultancy and training needs.

The research center is set to market the potentialities and capabilities of EAU academic staff that can cover Puntland needs in undertaking research and projects preparation and evaluation needs. As a part of this effort, members of the university academic research staff has participated the preparation of Puntland Five Year Development Plan.
